3rd Annual Hartford Riverfront Cross-Country Festival
Hosted by the Capital Preparatory Magnet School and the University of Hartford
Saturday, September 19, 2009 Riverside Park, Harford, Connecticut
On September 13, 2008, the second edition of the Festival opened Connecticut’s 2008 season. The Invite races consisted of teams who went on to win 2008 state championships in Connecticut, Maine, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. The 2008 New England Champions, Glastonbury, Ct, won the race in a close battle with eventual 6th place finishers at the Nike National Championships, Newton South, Massachusetts. The Girls’ Open race featured runner-up Britteni Simpson who became the first Hartford Public underclassmen to participate at State Open in over a decade.
The Boys’ Invitational race was won by Amherst Regional, 2008 Western Massachusetts Champions, over New England Championship qualifiers LaSalle, RI and Xavier, CT.
With the addition of college races and a concentrated effort to attract top regional teams, the 2009 HRXC Festival looks to be the best yet!
