Emily Lipari lowers her US #1 in the mile to 4:53.85.  Sheepshead Bay takes over 4 x 200 national lead.  St John Villa leads 3 teams under 9:20 and takes over the US lead in the 4 x 800.  Washington Twp ends day with US # 1 in SMR

Highlights
  • New Rochelle (NY) girls win the first track final of the day the shuttle hurdle relays (55 hurldles - 4 person - 5 hurdles). running 34.82.  Sheepshead Bay (NY) continues to be a powerhouse in the boys high hurdles winning the shuttle hurdles (55 meters - 4 runners - 4 hurdles) in 30.40 over New Rochelle's 30.71
  • The future looks bright for Cardozo (NY) after winning the girls freshman 4 x 200 in 1:46.41
  • Medger Evers (NY) girls run a fast 1:41.62 in the trials of the 4 x 200.  Takes sub 1:45 to advance to the finals.  In the boys trials Sheepshead Bay has the fastest time heading into the finals having run 1:30.34 and it took sub 1:32.5 to make it back to the final
  • In her last race before the Millrose Games national leader Emily Lipari (Roslyn, NY) ran through splits of 69.7 - 2:23  and 3:41.9 before pulling away from Joelle Amaral (Randolph, NJ) for the win and a new US #1 4:53.85 - 4:56.61 for Amaral
  • National leader in teh 4 x 200 Medger Evers off a strong 3rd leg that put them into the lead wins in 1:41.35
  • Chris FitzSimons (Hamden, CT) used a powerful 60 second last 400 to pull away to win the boys mile in 4:17.33 (leader splits of 64.5 - 2:13 - 3:17)
  • Sheepshead Bay backed up its top time in the prelins and ran a US #1 in the 4 x 200 with a clocking 1:29.00
  • Following the invitational events it is back to the relays and Medger Evers wins a tight battle with Mt Vernon to win the 4 x 400 3:52.17 - 3:53.36. Newburgh (NY) runs away with the boys 4 x 400 crossing the line in 3:22.20.
  • Shnell Wishart (Medger Evers, NY), the national leader in the triple jump posts the best jump in the long jump leaping 18' 1.75".  Then comes back to post the best triple jump performance of 39' 8.5"
  • Oniel Sandiford (Robeson, NY) clears 6' 8" for the best performance in the boys high jump relay
  • Darwin Gibbons (Caravel Academy, DE) and Cory Duggan (Farrell, NY) each clear 15' 6" to post the best performances in the pole vault
  • St John Villa (NY) got locked in a three team battle in the girls 4 x 800 and came out on top in a US #1 9:12.85 with Bronxville (NY) 2nd in 9:14.43 and Hunderton Central (NJ) 3rd in 9:15.16.  Hamden (CT) runs the 5th fastest time in the USA for the 09-10 season winning in 7:56.85 to West Orange (NJ) 7:58.96.  Mile winner Chris FitzSimons blots from a pack of 6 with 500 to go to split 1:55.7 for the winners.  The other splits for Hamden were 2:01.6 - 2:00.9 - 1:58.6
  • St John the Baptist (NY) wins the final girls track event of the day the Sprint Med Relay in the 4th best time of the season in the USA  4:12.27.  Washington Twp (NJ) ends the day with a US #1 in the bosy SMR - 3:32.90 to beat Grady 3:33.67
  • After having the 3rd best long jump performance of the day, James Adams (West Orange, NJ) comes back to post the best performance in the triple jump - 45 0.25"
  • Cornwall's LaChance sisters have the best two heights in the pole vault - Adrienne jumps 11' 6" and Ariel 11'
  • Medger Evers wins the girls team title and the boys it will come down to the final event on the track - the SMR
